Alaric’s wife Jo was also brought back from the dead via the stone and it was soon discovered that she also remembered a different life and was someone other than Jo. Heretic Oscar was resurrected, but there was actually another vampire inside of his body, an angry and very hungry vampire. Three beings have now been resurrected with the Phoenix Stone, and it seems only one with the intended result. Perhaps Caroline will finally find out what is really going on in this week’s episode. Stefan continues to leave out some important details, mainly that he got Valerie pregnant all those years ago, and Lily’s lover Julian killed their unborn child.

Another relationship has finally blossomed between Caroline and Stefan, but he still has not told her the entire story of his relationship with Valerie. In a flash forward 3 years into the future, we learn that Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) end up a couple, which is surprising because he has admitted to wanting to be with his creator Lily and also has shown some feelings for Caroline in the past.
